Cannonball Garage Sets Two New McLaren World Records: Redefining Performance Excellence

At Cannonball Garage, our mission has always been to push the boundaries of performance—and this season, we had one last opportunity to do just that. With the track season winding down, we joined the TCG track rental at Great Lakes Dragaway for a final record-breaking attempt, and the results were nothing short of monumental.

Setting the McLaren 1/4 Mile World Record

On November 8, 2024, we made history with our customer’s “CSO-X” McLaren 765LT, setting a new world record in the quarter-mile at 8.61 seconds with a trap speed of 167 mph. This run shattered the previous record of 8.77 seconds at 156 mph, held strong for over three years. This milestone is a testament to the relentless passion, precision engineering, and expertise that define Cannonball Garage.

McLaren 60-130mph World Record, but that’s not all. We also shattered the highly sought-after 60-130 mph record with a blazing 3.38-second run, further establishing Cannonball Garage as a leader in high-performance McLaren tuning. Each of these accomplishments are a testament to the dedication, skill, and innovation of our talented team.

CSO McLaren Engine Program

At the core of this record-breaking achievement is our Cannonball Special Operations (CSO) engine upgrade package. This engine was the very first we completed under the CSO program, and it has endured three years of intense, high-power use without missing a beat. While this engine has proven itself to be both powerful and incredibly durable, our CSO program has evolved significantly over the past three years, incorporating major advancements to deliver even greater performance and reliability.

The CSO-X Package

The CSO-X build also features Pure 1300 turbos, an Unobtainium exhaust system, and Injector Dynamics fuel injectors, all expertly calibrated by M-Engineering. To handle the immense power, we incorporated a Dodson clutch upgrade, ensuring the CSO-X can fully harness and deliver its power with consistency. The end result was 1312whp & 936wtq measured on our Dynojet chassis dyno.
